Happy Camper Attitude! (This list is only the beginning! Think! Plan! Overthink!! We have time to pack well and add creative touches that make this an even better trip.)
Notes:
"Inclusive" is the theme for the trip. We can work together to plan ahead for tent groups (smaller tents are always better) of 2-4 kids. MTN School will bring extra tents. We will also be sure to shift the seating arrangement in the van to keep things fresh and moving forward.
I see such a great opportunity here! We have a great Team. Lots of experience and bright eyes too. I can script Thursday, but I'd love to "build it together" meaning kids can think and write ahead of time to help round out the plan. Feel free to use "Reply All" and add kids email addresses in to this list so everyone can speak up early and often. Â
We can get going earlier on Tuesday PM, but it's nice to get there late as most tourists are driving out, and I'd love to stay until after dark. Getting "grounded" on Tuesday AM and early afternoon should help the rest of the trip.
Please talk to your camper about good choices around $ to spend or waste at nearby convenience/snack stores. Last year at Grand Canyon was a good case study, and we will plan to keep them from buying Takis and sugary drinks too often. We also need to think about not eating in the van and keeping it tidy and presentable. Snacking can become a problem.
We can try to stop at the Granite Hot Springs near Hoback, WY on the way home, but I will push for an earlier departure if we are going to choose this stop. It's 6h41mins from this stop, just off our route, to TRCS.
Original trip description:
The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE) is one of the largest intact temperate forest ecosystems on Earth and is famous for Grizzly Bears, Bison, Wolves and an abundance of wildlife.
June 8-June 12. This is the first week off from school and will include 4 nights and two meals per day, while students should bring snacks and funds for the nearby stores and restaurants.
This trip is intended for Biology and Ecology minded kids who will thrive over four nights and two days that of 7h 44 minute drives from Two Rivers Community School to sites 79 and 81 in the famous Signal Mountain Campground. Our sites were carefully selected for privacy, and wind/sun protection. Signal Mountain Campground has excellent views of the Teton Range across Jackson Lake!
Please contact bencanady7@gmail.com to inquire. Early planners rejoice! :)
We are currently planning a full itinerary and will publish detailed lesson plans and learning targets for mornings and afternoons every day. Â
As always, we can arrange free/reduced enrollment for this trip, most likely for students enrolled in the full MTN School Summer roster.
WILL MOVE TOWARDS 100% BLOG POST COMMUNICATION WHERE RELEVANT INFO CAN BE EASILY REFERENCED.
