Dinosaur National Monument and Flaming Gorge
Imagine a cool, clear oasis with amazing views and more dinosaurs than people!
#besttripever. Three nights of camping in a secure location with good facilities.
Monday June 22 through Thursday June 25. Departure by 9AM on Monday, and return by mid-afternoon on Thursday. Expect to pick up 2:30 to 3:30 on Thursday.
Mary Guillory has us set up at the Arch Dam Group Site, and we can take as many budding Paleontologists as we would like. There will be pre-work and front-loading to make sure we are primed to trek through the Cenozoic, Paleozoic, Permian, Triassic and Jurassic formations that converge around our camp!
We will bring an array of digging tools and will build screens with 2X4s and metal fabric of various diameters to search closely for fossils, petroglyphs, and artifacts before spending the afternoons on the sandstone shelfs around the Flaming Gorge Reservoir.
What to bring: (we will send an additional Packing list for this trip prior to departure.)
